Beyond the Brackets: Awesam Smile Elevates Ortho Excellence

The clinical floor of Awesam Smile Dental Clinic transformed into a live training arena as our dental team gathered for an intensive workshop on Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), Straight Wire Low Friction (SWLF), Wire Bending, and EF Line Appliances.

Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs) are tiny screws placed in the jawbone to help move teeth more efficiently and accurately. They are a great tool in orthodontics, especially for complicated cases where traditional braces might not be enough. The training began with a short classroom-style session. The trainer explained how TADs work, when to use them, and how they can improve treatment results. After the discussion, the real fun began—hands-on practice.

Our dentists worked on models, learning how to place the TADs carefully and correctly. They also watched a live demonstration to see the step-by-step process. Everyone was focused and excited to try something new.

One of our doctors said, “Kinakabahan ako nung una, pero pag pina-practice mo at naririnig mo yung feedback ng trainer, mas nakakafeel ka ng confidence sa sarili mo and masasabi mo na alam mo yung ginagawa mo.

(I was nervous at first, but when you practice and hear the trainer’s feedback, you feel more confident in yourself and you can say that you know what you’re doing.)

This training gave our team more tools to help patients in a safer, quicker, and more effective way. We’re proud of how committed our dentists are to growing their knowledge for the benefit of every smile we treat.

Another exciting training at Awesam Smile Dental Clinic focused on Straight Wire Low Friction (SWLF). These special braces help move teeth faster and more comfortably than traditional ones.

The training started with a short presentation explaining what makes SWLF braces different. These braces don’t need elastic ties, so they reduce friction and allow teeth to move more freely. That means fewer visits and often shorter treatment time for patients.

Our dentists had the chance to work with different types of brackets and wires. They practiced placing them on models and tried out different wire sequences. It was great to see how focused everyone was, asking questions and trying out techniques.

The training helped our team feel more confident in using SWLF braces and gave us more options for treating different kinds of orthodontic problems.

While technology in dentistry keeps advancing, some basic skills remain just as important today as they were years ago. One of those skills is Wire Bending, and our team recently took a full day to master it.

During this training, our dentists learned how to bend wires by hand to create custom shapes that help move teeth in specific ways. Even though we now have pre-made wires, sometimes a custom bend is exactly what’s needed to get perfect results.

Some of our younger dentists were trying this for the first time, while others were refreshing their technique. It was amazing to see everyone helping each other and celebrating small victories, like getting a loop just right.

Dentists were much more confident in their bending skills. It was a great reminder that even in a high-tech world, the hands-on skills still matter.

The team learned about EF Line Appliances, which help young children correct bad oral habits and improve jaw growth.

These appliances are soft, removable, and comfortable. During the training, our dentists learned how to spot the signs that a child might benefit from an EF appliance. They are great for kids who breathe through their mouths, have tongue-thrust habits, or are showing early signs of crooked teeth.

During the training, our dentists learned how to spot the signs that a child might benefit from an EF Line Appliance. One of the prominent parts of the training was learning the right way how to communicate to children and parents about the importance of early treatment.

One dentist said, “Napakagandang idea na maaari nating i-guide ang isang bata nang maaga pa lang para posibleng maiwasan ang pangangailangan na mag braces pa in the future.

(It’s a great idea that we can guide a child early as possible to potentially avoid the need for braces in the future.)

By the end of the session, everyone felt more prepared to support our youngest patients and help them build healthier, stronger smiles from the start.

At Awesam Smile Dental Clinic, we believe that every smile deserves the best care, and the key to providing that care lies in continuous growth and learning. Over the past few weeks, our team of dedicated dentists has participated in an intensive training program that focused on cutting-edge techniques and tools, including TADs, SWLF, Wire Bending, and EF Line Appliances. This training, led and supported by Dr. Sam, has proven to be a pivotal moment in our clinic’s journey toward excellence.

As we move forward, we are more prepared than ever to take on complex cases, offer advanced treatments, and provide the best care possible to every patient who walks through our doors. The growth we’ve experienced in just a few weeks will undoubtedly shape our future practices, and our team deeply grateful to Dr. Sam for making it all possible.
